Reciculation Air Button - Locker Room Smells

Reciculation Air Button - Locker Room Smells

One of our customers came in with his teenage son because the airflow from his air conditioner made it nearly impossible to breathe while running the air. “It smells like a high school football team’s locker room,” he said. “Worse than that,” his son chimed in.

They had just moved to Tucson from Amarillo, Texas. Upon investigation the technician began to ask some questions. “Do you always leave the recirculation air button on,” the tech asked the young man. “Well, yes, I always have. You don’t want to smell those feed lots going from Amarillo to Lubbock,” he replied.

Once the problem was identified, there was an easy and inexpensive fix. With a can of automotive air duct cleaner, your car air can smell fresh and clean.

We encouraged the young man, if he wanted to use the recirculation air button, to let his A/C run on fresh air the first few minutes of his drive before turning on recirculated air, and then again when he got a few minutes from his destination, to turn the recirculation air button off again and let his vents breath in fresh air.
